Real project by our team: shower remodel

P&R General Services installs floor, shower, wall, backsplash and accent wall tile for homes, condos and rentals in Lakewood Ranch, Sarasota and Bradenton. Our team focuses on the details you notice every day: a flat surface, even spacing, clean cuts and a tidy job site.

What we do

Bathroom and shower tile

Shower walls, shower floors, niches and bathroom floors. See our shower and bathroom tile page.

Tile floors

Kitchens, living areas, entries, laundry rooms and bathrooms, including porcelain, wood-look and large-format tile.

Kitchen backsplash

Subway, mosaic, porcelain and stone backsplashes with a layout planned around your range and cabinets. See backsplash installation.

Walls and accent walls

Tiled walls and feature walls, such as the stacked stone dining room wall in our projects.

Old floor removal

When the existing floor has to come out first, removal can be part of the same estimate.

Built for Florida homes

Tile is a natural fit for Southwest Florida. It handles humidity, cleans easily, stays cool underfoot and works well in homes with sand, pets and pool traffic.

How long a tile floor lasts depends on what happens before the first tile goes down. We check that the surface is sound and flat, plan the layout so cuts land in the least visible places, and leave room for movement where floors meet walls. Large-format tile shows every high and low spot, so flatness gets extra attention.

Choosing the right tile

Porcelain

A dense, low-absorption tile and a strong choice for floors, showers and high-traffic areas. Available in wood-look, stone-look and marble-look styles.

Ceramic

A versatile option for walls and backsplashes, with a wide range of colors and shapes.

Natural stone

Travertine, marble and slate bring unique character. Stone is porous and needs sealing and gentle cleaners to keep its look.

Mosaics

Small tiles for shower floors, niches and backsplash accents. More grout lines on a shower floor also means more grip underfoot.

Good to know: Every shower we remodel includes a waterproofing membrane installed by our team under the new tile. We do not offer waterproofing as a standalone repair, and we do not do drywall.

Answers

Tile Installation: frequently asked questions

How much does tile installation cost?

The cost of tile installation depends on the size of the area, the tile you choose and the condition of the surface underneath, so we do not publish prices. Square footage is only the starting point. Large-format tile needs a very flat floor, mosaics and patterns take more cutting time, and removing an old floor or leveling the surface adds work. Natural stone also needs sealing, which porcelain does not. To give you an accurate number, we start with your request and photos, then visit to measure and check the floor or walls in person. After the visit you receive a free written estimate that lists what is included, such as removal, preparation, installation and cleanup, so you can compare it with confidence. There is no cost or obligation for the estimate, and sending photos with your request helps us prepare faster.

What kinds of tile projects do you take on?

Tile floors, bathroom and shower tile, kitchen backsplashes, tiled walls and accent walls for homes, condos and rentals. We can also remove the old floor before the new tile goes in.

Do you install large-format tile?

Yes. Large-format porcelain is very common in Southwest Florida homes. Because big tiles show any unevenness, we check the flatness of the floor before we start and include any needed prep in the estimate.

How long does a tile project take?

The timeline for a tile project depends on the size of the area, the tile and how much preparation the surface needs, so we confirm it in your written estimate. A single backsplash or a small bathroom floor is a much shorter job than a whole house of large-format tile. Removing the old floor, leveling, thinset and grout curing time, and special cuts or patterns all add to the schedule. Before work begins, we confirm the start date and the expected number of working days, and we keep you updated if anything changes, such as a delay in material delivery. If you have a deadline, like a family visit, a listing date or the start of the rental season, tell us in your request so we can plan around it.

Do you do drywall?

No. P&R General Services does not do drywall work. We focus on tile, flooring, pavers, painting, pressure washing and small repairs.

Are you insured?

Yes. P&R General Services is fully insured, and we can send a certificate of insurance on request, which is helpful for HOAs, condo associations and property managers.

Which areas do you serve?

Our focus is Lakewood Ranch, Sarasota and Bradenton. We also serve Venice, Osprey, Nokomis, Ellenton, Parrish, Siesta Key, Anna Maria, Holmes Beach, Myakka City, Longboat Key and Palmetto.
